Winter in Sterzing
The joys of winter
Sterzing and its holiday valleys offer you many leisure options in the winter months. The cross-country ski runs of Ridnaun (25 kilometres circuit) and of Pfitsch (20 kilometres circuit) are accessible by our free of charge ski bus system via public transport. After a short journey time you breathe in crystal clear mountain air in the high valley and enjoy your winter dream amidst wonderful mountain scenery. The deep snow-covered landscape frees mind and soul and lets you forget your daily routine. Of course you can also go for long winter walks or just stock up on some sunshine.
A pleasure of that special kind is the toboggan run from Rosskopf down to the valley. It is the longest toboggan run of South Tyrol with about 10 kilometres of length. In no time at all, the ropeway takes you to the start at a height of 2000 metres. The decent on the sledge through the idyllic winter forest is an incomparable delight.
Snowshoeing and hiking through the pristine snow-covered landscape is a highlight of the region. You can find smoothly rising hills and challenging steep slopes safe from avalanches nowhere else. Get excited about wonderful hours in the sun, fantastic views and cosy stops for refreshment in droll mountain pastures which in many cases are also open in winter.
